Man and Woman
Muffe Heath

In my outer world,
My plain, facial expressions
Show true beauty for all to see.
Occasionally dressed, I'm suitably
Groomed as I stroll out in the world.

Slacks you may realize,
A tomboy is what they wonder -
I answer with truthful pride,
Tip my hat, and greet ladies
As they pass by.

Laughing high-pitched,
Something inherited I suppose -
Perhaps my feminine side has appeared.
"No matter, it's who I am,"
I answer with truthful pride,
As I joyfully dance along.

In my inner world,
Feeling masculine
Is the thing - flexing
My body, with my upper
Slacks away, I'm macho.

Moving with tunes
Fit for rock stars - I privately
Express my masculine side.
Few people only allowed
To become exposed.

They know what my world
Is like, they live it too -
Day, night - surviving
Despite prejudice, ridicule, hatred.
We aren't labels, but beings striving
To belong as people,
As we live as one.
