Virginia is known as the "Mother of Presidents", because it is
the birthplace of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, James Monroe,
William Henry Harrison, John Tyler, Zachary Taylor, and Woodrow Wilson, exceeded
by no other state. Also because portions of the original Colony subsequently became
Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, and West Virginia as well as some portions of Ohio.
The Chesapeake Bay divides the commonwealth. Virginia has a number of National
Park Service units, including one national park, the Shenandoah National Park.
The Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel is a 23 mile long facility that connects the
Delmarva Peninsula with southeastern Virginia in the United States. It crosses
the mouth of Chesapeake Bay and connects the independent cities of Virginia Beach
and Norfolk, Virginia to Cape Charles in Northampton County along with the rest
of the eastern shore of Virginia.
Virginia Beach is the most populous commonwealth. The state's nickname is
Old Dominion and it's capital is Richmond.
